Why Fast Fred is Racing with Purpose:
I have always been an avid runner and enjoy biking. When I hit my 40's, I decided I needed a new physical challenge. I signed up for my first sprint triathlon and began working on my swimming. When race day came, I wasn't sure if I would make it but I did cross the finish line and completed all three events without quitting! Since that first race, I have enjoyed competing in various races. It keeps me in shape and out of trouble!
Two years ago, I visited the slums of Kibera in Kenya. I realized there was so much to be done for these orphans. While I wanted to help, I figured there wasn't much I could do. However, when I heard about Racing With Purpose, I was immediately drawn to the cause. I was already training and working hard to compete in these events. Why not use these competitions as a way to create awareness and raise funds for the orphans I met in Kibera? Now when the training gets hard and I want to quit, I am inspired to keep going, remembering I am doing this for a greater purpose.
My friends and family have always supported me and my races but now they love the fact that my energy and efforts not only keep me healthy but make a difference in the lives of these women and children. As you can see, my goal is to raise $2,000. Any contributions toward this goal will make a difference and keep me motivated to continue Racing With Purpose!
